Client

"For over 25 years Aunt Leah’s Christmas Tree Lots have been raising money to fund programs that help prevent children in foster care from becoming homeless, and young mothers from losing custody of their children. Last year we raised over $800,000 thanks to generous community members, sponsors, and volunteers. This Christmas season, join the tradition and help give kids a home."

Project

Aunt Leah’s founder, Gale Stewart, wanted a timeline type graphic created to illustrate the growth of Aunt Leah’s Tree Lots' impact in helping house foster youth and moms as it expanded. Gale also requested for the artwork to communicate the story of the organization’s progress and how it is making a positive difference.

Impact

The artwork was used in two events celebrating the tree lots’ milestones and the client, Aunt Leah's Founder, was very satisfied with how it looked. The vector art was also reused for other holiday campaigns and graphics.

Challenge

What is the best timeline layout and visual style to capture the emotions of the audience?

Solution

A timeline was superimposed on a snowy hill, fitting the theme of the Christmas tree lots. Every milestone or major event is divided by a timeline segment. Each segment has text from the story and an increase of trees and houses, depicting the growth and expansion of Aunt Leah’s Tree Lots and its supports towards vulnerable women and foster youth.

The visual style was meant to uplift the audience with playful depictions of people doing winter activities through vectors. The cheerfulness of a miniature Christmas village diorama was used to connect the anticipation of the holidays to further enhance the feeling of celebration for Aunt Leah’s Tree Lots’ 25 year milestone.
